Boundaries

I have realized that living life on your own terms needs wisdom and a lot of letting go! You end up disappointing many expectations, many people for whom you are a crutch in many different ways. But without wearing our blinkers, our perceptions lose focus. And we owe that focus to ourselves for our lives.

Boundaries become an essential part of your plan for your own journey.

But, those who have similar energies will always understand you. And will be thoughtful around you and respectful of your journey.

You win some and you lose some. But most importantly, you never lose yourself in this journey from beginning to the end of this life.

Of course, the journey soul of the soul is not confined to this one life only. As they say in Hindi “picture abhi baaki hai “.

Aham brahmasmi we rise like waves and settle back into the ocean, all the while permanently living within that endless ocean of existence, consciousness and bliss.

Honesty and Humility

In being steadfast with someone, can we, should we mete out injustice to someone else? We are so focused on our personal likes and dislikes that we show our dislike through pettiness and being unfair. There is a middle ground. Sure, being steadfast is a wonderful trait. Everyone has a community of people they conform to, and are loyal to them. The middle ground is to maintain distance without actively acting against those who are not a part of your community but are around you. There is no need to pile on negative karma. We talk so much of karma. All this IS a part of your karma. Worse, when we disrespect those who have given us love and nurturing.

Can we awaken our conscience enough to understand what WE are doing wrong? And who are really your community that you may have discarded out of your own ignorance. The tendency for outward blame might stop and reflecting on oneself may begin a new sense of self-worth, based on honesty and humility. This would be more endearing a space, isn’t it? Let us not forget that just as eating sweets is a happy experience until it lands you with diabetes, some people who appear as sweet may not always have your best intentions at heart.

So it would be wise not to judge people by their external mannerisms, nor get swayed by the opinions of those around us. We must learn to develop our own sense of intuition if we want to become discerning of this need to be with the right people.

Meditation

We look for something all the time … searching all our lives for that one thing that may end all our troubles and make us peaceful.

But that’s not how it works. There are plenty of cobwebs to clear.

Besides, have we perhaps tried to look for what is actually looking for US? The so far unseen and unfelt vibrations that follow us to improve our thinking, our actions, give us clarity, are the casualty of our lack of awareness and focus on the wrong things.

The pity is, our energies are too dense to feel subtleties! Our tendency is more external oriented and so, very difficult to tune into subtle frequencies.

Some of us would have felt a tiny tremor within us sometime, only to have discarded it on the spot without understanding what it was trying to tell us.

To the meditators, these vibrations might touch sooner than later. New stimulation, new thoughts, new focus can happen with meditation. It changes lives.

Thoughts and Actions

There is a big difference in wanting privacy and secrecy. Very often, I find that people use these as synonyms. But to me, the former is a genuine right and the latter a need for people who are hiding things from others from themselves, too.

When you see people hiding things, whether their personal life or anything else, it is because they know they are not doing the right thing. They are generally also in denial, or defiant and show a “don’t care” attitude because they are hiding from themselves. Not acknowledging the actual truth to them.

If truth be told, we would not find ourselves hiding or lying unless we knew what we were indulging in is wrong. And we can always argue about what is wrong and what is right, but we know, don’t we? That’s why we hide it in our dark spaces where we hope, no one will look. But we can. Only, Living with us is not strength with people generally. We get preoccupied with focusing on the lives of others only because we feel good only by pointing at the negatives of others.

It is quite amazing how life starts to sparkle if we can just give up thoughts and actions which will, we know for a fact, chase our peace and happiness away. But if we didn’t create some problems for ourselves, how would we go through life day after day, right? Why be simple when we love being complicated food for thought for those who learnt to simplify life and lead a decently honest existence.
