Self-Destructive

“Letting go” is more a philosophical statement than a genuine attempt for most people. Sounds wise on the lips. But without any meaning if not practiced. The phrase is not meant to be just spoken about.

These are all personal practices for ourselves. We live in a family, in a community where there WILL be a wear and tear of emotions and feelings and even reactions in the name of being “human”. But instead of harboring the adversely affecting emotions, can we let go of them immediately as they arise? Knowing that they are harmful to us and no one else? Or do we come under the category of “self-destructive”?

Actually, we have a tendency to get into conflict, retaliate, get hurt, shun people and ultimately, lose relationships. And ironically, we are the ones who have suffered on that emotional see saw without seeing any change whatsoever in the people we have conflicted with, except blame for us.

The question I always ask myself is: would I carry a burning coal in my hands just because someone gave it to me? Obviously NOT!

But in many ways, we ARE carrying grouses within us, which are like carrying burning coals, which come from others because we don’t have the wisdom to LET GO. We are unable to focus on what is good for our mental health and peace of mind. And therein lies our core of restlessness and frustration.

When maturity finally dawns, we are able to laugh at ourselves at our earlier foolishness. And we automatically start to let go of the unnecessary burdens we carry.

Learning to discard and delete does not have to be learnt from AI. We have our own super intelligence we could use if we lessened our dependence on the opinions of others and delved into our own common sense department within our intelligence bank.

Emotion

I tell myself all the time. If you are hoarding negativity and are emotionally corrupted at the time, Silence is the only mantra. Otherwise, a mind overflowing with anger, rage, frustration, envy can spill over from your gut in the form of a barrage of words and actions which later, you will not be proud of. And you will have to justify your wrong doing to yourself and others if you spoke in public.

I have yet to see any long term benefits of such speech / actions.

And the worst part of this is, people talk behind your back so, you think you are ok. But can we hide from ourselves?

Right is right even if no one supports you. Wrong is always wrong even if you have a majority with you. That majority will never be a loyal majority. It is better to be isolated for being right.

Respect

Between the mental states of over explaining to please people and attacking people when YOU might be wrong, there is a middle ground.

RESPECT everyone whether, in your eyes, they deserve it or not. Not because of anything else, but because it demonstrates your sterling quality of non judgement.

We need to understand this. Yes, we all have showered our frustrations and anger on others. But we do need to become conscious and change this. For ourselves. Not because of others.

Whatever we change for the better is a win win for us. When we detest people due to their negative qualities, the law of resonance says “look within”. YOU may have something to clean up yourself.

My guru says, detest the negativity, NOT the person. Every soul shows karmic traits and learning to cope with their karmic agenda, so, your role would be to live and let live. If you are close, point out lovingly what they need to work with.

Just as the cane acts as a loving support to a blind man when he crosses the road, love can hold your hand and help you cross over from grief to happiness. If you don’t have enough love, then you need to enhance the love factor within you.

Memories

When we talk of memory, we perhaps refer to the mind in general. The soul memory actually gets transferred from one lifetime to another and is stored as cellular memory. If the memories are painful , they will manifest in the body sooner or later if something is not done to take away the pain . It is like a thorn in your foot which , if deep, gets septic and the pain radiates well beyond the location of the thorn .
It seems like a Herculean task if not an impossible one, to heal the cells by healing the memories. Because emotional pain also radiates out as compounded pain with one major negative emotion finding allied emotions joining in. Like, anger brings frustration and often , hopelessness with it.
One beautiful method is through breath. Breathing exercises are vital to health. Otherwise lungs can get effectively choked due to intense emotions. They can't breathe in life under these conditions.
So, it pays to remember each time we practice negativity, where the memories are going to be stored and how important it is to clean up the toxicity before it attacks the mind body complex.

Possibilities

Fickle mindedness and unreliability are two extremely undesirable traits in a human being. Many allied vices stem from these. Firstly, these people are not true to anyone, not even themselves. Their pretence levels are very high. Probably masters of the game. Secondly, they evidently live for themselves, whimsical and undependable. Lacking depth, maybe, and living on the surface. Changing their minds like they would change clothes, but very sweet spoken and could fool anyone except those discerning few.
I often hear people say such people are happier because they don't succumb easily to feelings of sadness, helplessness, frustration etc. Possible, if they think only of themselves most of the time, but happier? I don't know about that.
