Kindness

We talk so much of kindness but we never focus on being kind to ourselves. We are so knotted within us but we preach kindness. We push ourselves, deny our blocks and try to prove ourselves to the world while our personal foundation is so challenged!

Generally, people feel good when they are spoken of well and praised even. Human tendency is naturally to gravitate towards where you feel good or where people make you feel good.

Getting involved in a busy schedule often does not give you an opportunity to self-analyze, to dig out the toxins buried deep within. Maybe, from childhood, may be later in life. But, not worth neglecting!

Ultimately, every one of us has the responsibility to review and correct impressions and perspectives so as to give more opportunities to life. Moving along, wanting to be in the light and yet, holding onto the dark spots where light does not enter, is like moving one step forward and one step back. How does it help?

As I always say, it is so easy to select a few and dole out your goodness, no holds barred! Almost like dog lovers who cannot love humans the same way as they do their dogs.

But so difficult to offload the baggage you have built up with people based often on simple misunderstandings or unrealistic expectations, not to forget ego driven attitudes!

Either you have the wisdom to understand the journey of those around you or you just keep being myopic without giving even a benefit of doubt.

And you know what? I have seen that with such attitudes, we miss out on some great relationships! But, sadly, what you don’t even know, how will you miss?

Demonstration

Love is not defined by demonstration.  And it does not diminish even if the people we love grow to become critical of us. It is indeed a quality which does not rely on the approval of or being accepted by someone. There will always be double standards in love: one , what they feel for someone and the other, the non understanding of what others feel for them.

We are too limited as individuals to put ourselves in the place of another . We need overt endorsements all the time. Also, I guess we are too preoccupied with our own story and what WE want. This is precisely why wise people have said that love is its own reward and expectations in love will definitely cause disappointment. Because love can become holy only if a relationship works on mutual grounds. Love is giving from both sides. And always, not sporadically. Otherwise, we love because we love, and leave it at that.

The most relevant examples are mother daughter, husband wife, two friends… the mother loves her child to distraction but the child moves away when it grows up. A couple may have differences and love may become scarce. The same goes for friends. Actually, WE are limited by our tendencies to judge, reject, hate, even be cruel , misunderstand, ridicule the weaknesses in another which we might be suffering from, too… because we don’t want to or can’t heal ourselves. We want to continue this way.

But these are the attitudes that later deepen and become manifested ailments . We know of many such cases, but we have this funny conviction that this will not happen to us. Many clients that I see have such deep issues but I find people block their minds when you try and speak to them about this. They want to continue this self damaging battle . Love in this world is weaker than hate and fear.

This is a part and parcel of kalyug. And accepting this is the only solution to bring peace in our lives , because, we are leaving this world alone, not in groups , so that their endorsement should be that important for us to damage ourselves and our journey.

Blessing everyone is the way to go because an aware human being knows that everyone is suffering. Otherwise , they would have more love in their hearts.

Professionalism

For a developing country, honing attitudes is the major requirement.

Professionalism in anything we take up is of prime importance. We have this tendency of taking advantage of anything and everything people want to get done through us. Taking advantage of people’s needs is an undesirable attitude. Making people chase you after they trust you and pay you for a legitimate deal which you take your time over accomplishing.  False promises and every procrastination that goes with it. Our intentions are dubious.

I have never understood this. Because the more genuine and efficient you are, the more good will you build up and the more work you get. What sense does it make to let people leave you with bad experiences, never to return?

We need dharma back in our lives. Honesty, simplicity, cleans mind and hearts, and empathy, all of which are necessary for a professional attitude and to sustain business and relationships.
