Meditative

I was talking to a friend about ways to keep a daily balance of mind. The two brilliant ways that come to mind are:
Mindful and watching your breath.
It has been my experience that with a regular practice of these two techniques, you will find your sadness/ depression/ conflict etc disappearing.
Mindfulness can also be described as being in a meditative state all day. Be IN the moment, whatever you may be doing. Train yourself because it may take some practice. But once you begin to experience the results, you will truly never go back to a state of unmindful. And it will help in curbing reactions and will help in being proactively responsive.

Maturity

Why am I treating someone badly because the person deserves it according to you? Hmmm. Retaliation can never be a solution. Somewhere, retaliation means you are unwilling or unable to solve an issue amicably. Because you lack courage to understand that you are a part of the problem too.
Staying away from what you cannot handle debilitates you in the long run and your courage levels are naturally low. That is not really an ideal way to live. But sooner or later, life teaches and levels us out if we don’t do these ourselves, with understanding and maturity.

Recreation

I love this phase in which I have finally found the desired balance between work and recreation. Everything has been a lesson and everyone I have met has held a mirror before me. And I am so grateful that the realization has been sweeping in slowly and steadily.
Happy is the mind that accepts what it cannot change instead of wallowing in meaningless agony. Move on! You are a unique soul even if people don’t view you or themselves as such.
Eckhart Tolle says suffering is self generated. A hundred percent true when you actually reach that point. And no arguments are left over in the bag of doubts.
What stops you from being happy people situations and reactions? What? Think and you will realize that YOU can’t handle what life presents. If you understand that often , in life, you have to get used to long jump, high jump, hitting the ball right ( sometimes wrong) and all this is just competing with yourself and bettering your last performance, you will automatically start getting cleansed from all those polluted mindsets that keep you in a whirlpool of negatives where you are just playing the blame game and pointing fingers at life, at everyone but never at yourself.
Whereas, everything begins and ends with the self and in the self. Ghalib’s words translated:
When I didn’t know my own mental state, I blamed the whole world. But the day I perceived my shortcomings, there was no one left to criticize.
My worst “enemy “may be my best friend within my soul group.

Blessings

In the earlier years, we were taught to touch the feet of all elders. The blessing of elders was of prime importance. We were told that a blessing was a form of energy that was transmitted from the elders to us when we touched their toes. And this energy was packaged with love and affection and the good will that emanates from close bonds.
It is a blessing to belong to a family where such thoughts are given importance and such feelings exist.
Blessings go a long way. They cleanse the one who gives and the one who receives. So, in every situation, just bless, bless and keep blessing, without worrying unduly about the motives and feelings of others. It is really not relevant to us since we only bless and let go.

Honest and Welfare

Why is it that it has become a crime to be honest and welfare oriented? Very simple! This is the scenario of current times for the same reason that families are becoming distant.
Too much freedom given, taken or taken forcefully has, over a period of time, diluted the impact of honesty and benevolent advice. Today, when freedom has been generally misused to result in an eclipse of general welfare, the scope of an upward swing would require a herculean effort from each one of us.
We have always had to be driven towards that upward swing. We need to be taught to think right. And then maybe, we will realize how valuable the values that we lost were.

Realization

There are so many personal prejudices in current times, so many competitive attitudes ending with toppling another to climb onto their backs. Even conversations are only about others. And the topic is not really about people either. it is mostly about our own underlying envy , a desire to discredit someone in someone else’s eyes.
We are seeing this even on the larger canvas as in the current elections. And it is there because the average caliber of human being has been found wanting. Open hostilities indicate that there is no value for respect as a personal virtue. We are willing to give up our dignity, our grace to achieve what can only be a selfish end because, the qualities of people with a high sense of dignity and self respect are very different. They don’t need to downgrade themselves. They are confident and contented people.
I would like to think that the tide is turning towards a realization that values need to be generic and real, followed by everyone.

Personalities

If we knew just how many personalities we carry within us, we would become mature about containing ourselves within a set of workable value system, workable in this life. It would not be correct to just lead a life which is not inclusive and which is completely stubborn about taking cognizance of the surrounding scenario and people especially if different parts of you are going to be in conflict.
This would happen when there are past life issues between souls , too. And even if this is just a guess, it is a liberating thought which helps in consolidating your emotions into a positive mode and helps you to move on.
And it would be good to remember that complexities are rooted in simplicity and the onus is only on you to break things down to simple thinking and living. Just with an understanding of the true nature of the self.

Conversation

There is an academic world out there which keeps your cerebral movements stimulated. Sometimes, you meet people who you can listen to for hours. And there is always so much to learn if you have an open mind during interesting conversations.
The world is such an incredible place if you observe all its features.

Happiness

Happiness is when we are comfortable in our emotions. Things have worked out our way. People are nice. We are well. Everything is nice.
Bliss is on a higher level though when we live within our high vibrations. When nothing happening around us matters or is important to us either. When we reach that point, this state has more permanence, like when we actually reach the mountain peak that we were happy just at the thought of climbing.

Comparisons

Why is it that often, new friendships fade into a kind of indifference after a while whereas old bonds can be revived any time? What is it about childhood friendships?
We travelled with my dad every two years and this moving constantly never really gave us the time to strengthen bonds. Today, when I see my children having such strong bonds with their friends, it is because they were together since school days.
As children, there were no motives attached to friendships.
Not a care in the world about the frills of family name, fame etc.
Comparisons set in only when, as adults, we start calculating and comparing.
But as I always say, everything does have two sides and the good side of changing cities is that you learn to adjust and adapt early in life. And unconsciously, your mental horizons expand as well.
We call ourselves widely travelled when we have indulged in a lot of foreign travel. But I tell people I was a widely travelled kid!

Words or Actions

What makes you feel peaceful after you have acted on it is generally the right thing. If you have an active conscience, it will tell you when you need to repair damage done through your words or actions.
As you move on in life, it is your feelings that will indicate your path. Feel guilty? Then there is work to be done angry and also happy? Then you are on the right track.
So, instead of judging others, look inside yourself. And ask, is there work in progress or has it slowed down or completely packed up?
