Journey of adventure

There is a strange feeling of confidence in us as we plan our life. It is called faith. That keeps us going. Otherwise, if you really think about it, do we really know that we will live for the days we have planned activities for?
We only begin to think of our mortality as we grow older, and especially when health begins to fail. Then we review our lives, check out our mistakes and want to atone for many of them. We start fearing that our actions might boomerang on us. Our Karma may come back to us... etc.
But faith is that key which makes life into a journey of adventure. And it is faith only which makes us trust the Divine and accept our life experiences.

Self preservation

Wisdom says, listen to your body. It speaks to you. But not everyone is sensitive to their body. Even if they were, the knowledge about the working of the internal system may elude them. So much is constantly said about being positive and shunned BG negativity that they don't even dwell on the possible repercussions.
The fact is, the message posted here is extremely important for our physical health. If our immune system is affected, our future can be pretty badly affected too. The quality of our life may be impaired. Because the cells have life and also respond constantly to our senses and feelings , as does our subtle body like the chakras and the aura.
It would be very simplistic to just advocate avoiding negativity. If it were that easy and simple, why would anyone suffer in any way at all ? However, neither should we stop trying to bring in some transformation with the required knowledge and our own instinct for self preservation and survival.

Self criticism

I have realized that in the name of close relationships, we give compassion but forget to reserve some of it for ourselves. And when that happens, what comes to us is criticism. Criticism from others turns into self criticism and soon, you start feeling you are not good enough. You allow people to do this to you. Because the more you give, the more they take and the more you get taken for granted.
Someone said to me that you must be more clinical in life instead of going overboard for anyone. I would have argued a few years ago. Today, I see the wisdom of the statement.
Be calm, clinical and clever; the 3 c's which must rule relationships today.

Knowledge and Wisdom

We often use "knowledge" and "wisdom" as synonyms, taking it as natural. That people who have one have the other. But it does not quite work that way.
Acquiring knowledge helps you make a better living for yourself as medicine to a doctor's profession. Of course, as they say, knowledge is never wasted. So, an open mind works like a sponge, imbibing knowledge from anything and anyone and tucking it away for use during a rainy day. You can literally become a multi tasker.
But it is not knowledge but the dawn of wisdom that enhances the quality of your life. You make a better life by being wise because the implications of having wisdom are many.
In wisdom, you become balanced. You know when to speak and when not to, when to act and when not to. In wisdom, your vision expands to incorporate others into your circle of warmth and caring. Also in wisdom, you become compassionate and kind and learn to accept what you cannot change.
You also shun the qualities you don't want instead of shunning the people possessing those qualities. You become simple, straightforward and honest and learn the art AND science of living.
Then, you make a better life. And if this wisdom is complimented with knowledge, then life and living become merged into one wholesome individual.

Compassion

That extra modicum of compassion! A heart without compassion does not beat in a healthy way. Many of us feel we have "enough" compassion but what that "enough" actually is, no one can quantify. Neither is it easy to spell out when and where that compassion becomes unnecessary, when it gets taken for granted and doesn't serve a purpose, sounds callous but it is not. People tend to take advantage of this pure feeling as well.
On the other hand, if the hands of compassion were absent, we would be deprived of the experience of inter connectivity, which would be a huge loss to humanity. We would be robots without the beautiful feelings that we are endowed with.
But ultimately, we do judge compassion on our own capacity for giving it as well as observing the capacity of others, hopefully learning from the latter.
We always profess to rule that doctors and nurses must have a great amount of compassion but do they all have it? In fact, all humans were meant to have it. Do they? Mercy, empathy, kindness are all off shoots of compassion. And love is the core. Do we have enough? And if we do, how much is "enough”?

Charity

An action that is respected is that which is performed with grace. Its value is enhanced manifold. As long as there is life, give and take is an inevitable part of it. What is important is that grace is not only in giving but also in taking. There are people who keep giving but refuse to accept. That energy becomes one sided. There are also people who give very condescendingly and from a space of ego driven "charity". No grace there.
I know someone whose charities came to light after he passed on, to the amazement of his own family. Today, we need to advertise in the papers and media that we donated an x amount to an x charity. No grace there.
Let the giving be between you and God and treat specially those you give to , with utmost kindness and respect , almost as if It is YOUR need to give and not theirs to take, because it is not easy for everyone to accept while being made to feel small.

Perspectives in life

Generally, people have many different perspectives in life. Views on similar matters differ and widely sometimes. Each one of us values our way of thinking until it changes could be due to inner learning or external education.
Today, the main problem in society is the basic non acceptance of other viewpoints. Rather, intolerance to viewpoints other than our own.
Do we ever debate on why we don't look like clones of each other? We know and accept external appearances but can't do the same in any other manner. So, if color and case unite, they also divide. The same goes for everything else. Money, fame, values, culture, sophistication etc.
We worry more about the appearance of a glass rather than whether the water we are drinking from it is pure. Glass divides but water unites similarly religion. The belief in different gods or spiritual heads divides though the blood in the veins is the same in all and unites all mankind. Correction! SHOULD unite mankind.
Then what stupidity are we up to , and actually propagating that stupidity of divisions in every sphere ? The question is, do we see it that way? Never have we preferred to think we are right and everyone else is wrong. And we take along all those who think like us, whether our thinking is beneficial or destructive.
Unfortunately, that's how more and more individualistic groups form, each distancing from the other on account of lack of affinity. This extends beyond boundaries and intolerance rules the world. Peace is therefore, in pieces.

Spontaneity

People often confuse impulsiveness with spontaneity, probably because of the quickness of response in both cases. But if you think about it, they are not quite the same.
Impulsiveness is a trait which shows often that an action has been taken without adequate thought. The impulse could therefore, be misleading.
Spontaneity is a response from the heart which resonates with the regular actions of another. Like, to spontaneously hug someone you care about and are close to. The caring dictates the spontaneous action. The type of earlier memories about a person or situation can dictate the level of spontaneity, positive or negative.
The heart is spontaneous. The head thinks. And when the head (or intellect) is thinking wrongly, wrong impulses will be the result.

State of mind

Wellness is really a state of mind. As a business, we might include a spa, a wellness clinic, gym etc. But the truth is, its core is the mind. When I say that I am not feeling well, I am really saying the mind isn't feeling good. Even if I have a headache, it started somewhere in the mind.
We need a mind spa, to cleanse the mind regularly. When we go for massages, our body relaxes. When we do liquid diets, we detox and when we do a mind spa, our spirit experiences a sense of freedom.
Everywhere, you have to pay for the services. At spiritual workshops, the difference is, after paying, we are cleaning the nucleus of all ailments. Once the mind is cleansed, every aspect of you is healed. It is the pollution of the mind that creates the cataract kind of opacity that blocks clear vision. It has to undergo surgery. The mind spa provides that surgery. And everything is gloriously illuminated after that.

Human relationships

Don't judge people from where you are. Everyone has a story. I read a very beautiful story which is relevant to this thought.
A father and son were travelling by train with a young couple sitting in the same compartment.
The son, looking out of the window, shouted excitedly, "dad, look ! The trees are going back!”
Then again, he said, "dad, look, the clouds are running with us".
The young couple told the father, “You should take your son to a doctor. There is something wrong with him".
The father said," we are just returning from the doctor. My son was blind from birth and has just got his eyes back."
The couple was ashamed for their hasty judgment.
So, you see, we constantly feel the need to judge overt actions without understanding what inspired them in the first place. Human relationships are always in trouble because we judge more and care less. We are so keyed up that we don't even know how to smile at someone who does not smile at us. We don't know kindness, caring and sharing.
But we do live easily on a lack of trust, suspicion, grudges, envy and constant insecurity emanating out of a deep sense of inadequacy which we seldom address. We live on a superficial self image most of the time.
If we are on a judging spree, let us judge ourselves and see where we can improve and let the others introspect on themselves. Mind our own store.

Philosophies of life

Isn't it amazing, this zest for life and will to live? Despite lives ending around us and all kinds of ailments plaguing humanity, we still carry on. Philosophies of life emerge every day. Some listen. Some listen and practice. Some don't listen. Some don't want to know and are happy in their world. Seasons come and go. Wrinkles start to show, last on the face and limbs. Those on the mind are older but when they manifest outwardly, we begin to take notice.
We are humans. We will regress some, progress some, cry some, laugh some, and carry on; Living life with all that we have, good, bad and indifferent. Who is anyone to say what these mean anyway? Because they mean so many different things to so many different people that you get exhausted from trying to fathom and analyze. It's like you roam all over the world and then finally, come back and rest only in your home.

Compromise

We know ourselves more by the independent choices we make. Compromised choices often are reluctant choices that sometimes leave a trace of anger. "Why did I agree to make that choice? I don't like that feeling very much. I don't feel good", especially when the results might not be palatable.
Well, it is normal to feel this way. We are all free spirits who , by nature, don't want controls. And yet, we have them everywhere ever since we are born. In childhood, they are thrust on us because we don't know any better. And soon, this becomes routine until you start asking "why".
When you make your own choices, you take ownership of those choices, whether they work out for you or not. That is the right learning process. There is no chance of throwing the blanket at anyone else here because you were solely responsible for the choice. And actually, it's good because that's how we grow.

Possibilities

Fickle mindedness and unreliability are two extremely undesirable traits in a human being. Many allied vices stem from these. Firstly, these people are not true to anyone, not even themselves. Their pretence levels are very high. Probably masters of the game. Secondly, they evidently live for themselves, whimsical and undependable. Lacking depth, maybe, and living on the surface. Changing their minds like they would change clothes, but very sweet spoken and could fool anyone except those discerning few.
I often hear people say such people are happier because they don't succumb easily to feelings of sadness, helplessness, frustration etc. Possible, if they think only of themselves most of the time, but happier? I don't know about that.
