Divine Hand

A family is like a bunch of assorted flowers put together by a Divine Hand. Different souls slated to be together to help each other evolve. They are all different, with different destinies but bonded in love and compassion, looking out for each other.

This karmic nature of families is real.

We are duty bound to act as per the divine laws to attain freedom of the soul.

Learning humility and letting go of our pride, our egos is the first lesson.

Developing a community of friends outside is wonderful but not at the cost of family.

We only ask for blessings from family. Have you noticed? From our connections bound by birth. Somewhere within you, you know that genuine blessings are given from the heart by people you have grown up with and who love you despite all your faults and weaknesses and such blessings reach the Divine, believe me.

So, please return to your families, especially your parents who are living in senior citizen’s homes. It is sad that many parents prefer to be there. This says something about the lack of care and love from those who were nurtured and cared for with love by these very parents.

Self-Glorification

Why did existence plant us in this world? Have you ever thought about it? Why did it plan that everything and everyone should be connected?

We were placed in different slots of affluence, work fields, and relationships to create a wholesome world in the image of the Divine. And when we led such lives, we exonerated ourselves and knew we were following the path laid out by the universe for ALL of us.

But what did some of us do? We started feathering our own nests, monopolizing resources given to us as gifts from the universe, indulging in   self-glorification and paying little heed to the ones who were less fortunate in many significant ways.

So, are we responsible for the world as it is today? If anyone says “no”, please think, reflect and internalize the values we have completely forgotten.

Perceptions

Why is it that, in society, the act of gossip is entertainment to us? It is definitely slander. It results in maligning the person you are gossiping about. And the people we talk about are not even present to respond. And we feel satisfied when others agree with us? Really? We have reached a stage where sensitivity and spirituality is nowhere. We are living a lie and in total ignorance. Even though, I am sure, everyone has a need to be seen as “good”, we get stuck within our own limitations of our frustrations and cravings.

Our own inadequacies probably give us a short term “high” through speaking about the limitations of others and criticizing them. Our perceptions about others then, become a convenient argument that probably makes us feel superior to them. Reality may be very far from what we think. We are merely delusional. The irony is, we do very little to work on ourselves. Hard work comes hard although, the fact is, looking within is the only way to create the right values within us.

There is a world out there that does not know the meaning of being spiritual and being close to the Divine. It is dark and defiant of any light coming in. Let US at least live in the light ourselves, each one of us. Be sensitive and compassionate. Let’s be good. Let’s understand that everyone is fulfilling their karma only. No more, no less. And everyone is living a challenge. So, Be kind. Be helpful.

Divine energy

A man travelling in a confused state of mind does not know which path will lead to his destination. There is no light along these roads, nor signboards. What does he do?

He started out without a clue.

We are somewhat like that. But in our case, we are ignorant in a different way. We actually know the answers but we don’t trust ourselves and don’t listen to our inner voice. We are also not focused inwards, but more concerned about our external image. We seem to exist on the image people have of us.

Why do we spoil our worlds? It is such a self-defeating exercise.

Praise often may not be genuine and can mislead us. But we can get addicted to feeling good through praise. And we get stuck.

Growth through honing our inner self is a painful, uncomfortable process. It can tear your guts out (metaphorically) to elevate out of the current mindsets into the world of the Divine energy which is like blinding sunlight to our darkness. To reach out and up into it, we have to leave behind the darkness of many lives.

Innocent

 Silence has a lot of power. When the mind is silenced, the spiritual dimension opens up. A joyful experience indeed!

On the other hand, like everything else in this world, it depends on its usage. Silence is not always innocent! It can be used as a tool to indicate disapproval. It can also be used to control people in vulnerable positions and situations.

Silence can be anti - justice if we keep quiet at times when we watch people going through abuse and injustice. 

And silence can result in peace, more when a certain amount of detachment sets in. And that sets in when you stop expecting largesse from humans and start connecting with your divine energy and source.

Contentment

 

If you live in a state of suffering, observe yourself minutely and ask yourself “ why”. Like burnt food which is inedible, until you prepare it again, your burning due to suffering also needs a new beginning. Would you relish burnt food ? Obviously not ! It goes into the garbage can instantaneously. So is your suffering meant for the garbage can. Why do you wallow in it when you can easily chuck it and start fresh ?

We think we love ourselves and feel entitled and deserving of everything good and comfortable. So, when we don’t get it , we suffer. But, actually, wants are indicative of a lack of self love. Self love simplifies everything because it is such a complete feeling , akin to affinity with our divine source.

The needs for survival are few and available to most people. Wants are a different story altogether. Every one of them increases your appetite for more. Whereas, a fulfilment of needs leads to , or SHOULD lead to contentment.

This is the reason suffering is said to be self inflicted. It is a personal choice a polluted mind makes for us. But, because we are not in control of ourselves, the mind reigns supreme and leads us into suffering. A clear mind cannot do that.

Work

 Work is worship. A popular saying and truly a very pertinent slogan for us all. The opposite side of the coin that says, an idle mind is a devil’s workshop.

Constructive work keeps the health and happiness quotient on a consistent level. It’s been my experience. It is a way of giving back to yourself what you know to be your core as a part of divine energy. What you think you are giving outside is actually what you are returning to yourself.

Image of the Divine

 

Over a period of time, water can cut stone. Similarly, our life is chiselled by the cutting away of unwanted features and becoming polished in the image of the Divine.

We just tend to give up the effort somewhere along the way. Maybe, we look for quick returns. Or maybe, stop believing in ourselves.

One thing is sure. When your inner mirror begins to clean up, it starts attracting everything that is clean like a magnet. It is true that the Universe gives you only more of what you have.

So, why not have goodness?

Divine

 

I am glad that some irrational mindsets are moving out today. Like beauty and brains don’t go together, the jokes on blondes being dumb, the Sardar jokes when the best positions have been occupied by them...

Mindsets, in any case, defy the actual creative powers of human beings. We said women’s role was as homemaker. Today, she IS that and a lot more. We said, men were made to be the bread winners. They ARE but not the only gender. We said, women were the weaker sex. We turned out to be very strong.

Why is the human mind always more focused on limiting us? Why we are unable to see the wider angles, have a broader vision? Living in boxes can be really claustrophobic and many of us fail to realise that this is exactly what we are doing and feeling like something is always missing in our lives.

To feel free and extraordinary that we all are, we need to climb out from that self created box and look at the vast scope of opportunities to grow and evolve.

You are your own Creator. So, the sky is the limit if you have the proper tools. There are two texts to be applied to ourselves: Purusha Suktam and Nirvan Shatakam.

We are as vast as the Divine and as pure as the Divine soul which is not to be identified with the body even when it is encased in the physical body for a few years between birth and death.

Expectation

We play many roles in this world. Familial ties are familiar ties because we are born and bred there. We generally build up a close bond while growing up together.

And then, we tie a “knot” in marriage and reset our lives according to a new person, a new family. And we expect that one person, the spouse, will play all the roles rolled into one, in our lives. Practically, that may not be true. Every human being in and around you fulfils a certain expectation in your life, gives you something different, including your spouse but not to the exclusion of everyone else, however happy your marriage might be.

Souls come and go and each one helps you to learn something. It may not be possible that all the traits you admire may be seen in one human being. Not even in you for that matter, though, thanks to yourself image, it may be easier for you to subscribe to that illusion.

That’s why most of us need to have cerebral, emotional and mental connects with several people, each fulfilling a need or needs as the case may be because expansion is our theme. We are vast, very vast. And we unconsciously try to reach out in that direction through soaking in all the aspects which contribute more and more to our expansion.

Education comes with its own brand of confidence often, a little arrogance too. However, every educated person is not enlightened. Enlightenment goes beyond. Its canvas is very large In fact, without any boundaries Limitless.

There is an inner light in the enlightened that goes to the depth of understanding phenomena and concepts as also a natural recourse to the best code of conduct there could be . This is also work in progress while we are alive. That is, if we keep watching ourselves and our process of learning each second.

Yes, education may be different from learning. One is theory and the other practical.

Home of God

I always wondered as a young girl, what being spiritual meant. Everyone had a different understanding. But somewhere, the common denominator was goodness, and dropping the ego. Since our revered guru stayed in our home whenever he was visiting, the pristine atmosphere that prevailed combined with extra strict and protective parents kept me away from the real world. Growing up to the insecurities and complexities of people was hard.

But the training imparted in the early years never quite leaves you, even if it doesn't work for you at times. But if you stay on a spiritual path, not deviating for anyone, your path becomes an elevated, though lonely one. On the flip side, it becomes possible to help those that struggle; especially when you have been there yourself.

There is no point in getting validation from even family and friends. If you can validate yourself, it should be enough provided you are thinking clearly, simply and honestly. The Divine validation is the only and ultimate. Otherwise, we are just playing roles here of a parent, a child, a friend etc: When this drama, dream ends, so will all the roles that we play today.

Never cry or grieve at being excluded by human beings. Grieve only when you lose your Divine connects. Wake up to the ultimate reality. As someone said, your lot will be in the other world what you have made of this world.

Life is not an indulgence of egos but merging into a higher order and channelizing godliness through you. And this cannot be done unless you get connected to everyone and everything with love. Nothing else works in the home of God.

Divine energy

The Divine has been called “Bhaavateet ", meaning beyond this world, beyond the emotions, beyond the transient. If we think for a minute that the Divine symbolizes a set of qualities to be lived, then the human can also aspire to be the Divine energy; Just as "guru" has been described as a "tattva” or substance, a guiding energy which we can elevate ourselves to.

Nothing is beyond us , except what our constant tendency to doubt makes happen. But of course, it takes a lot of pain to even start on that path of slowly healing away the illusory layers from our mind. How many lives are we living in an illusion, thinking there is no one to beat us in wisdom. What wisdom is this? And how have we acquired it and how MUCH, to say with so much confidence that we speak from wisdom? It could also be our ignorance to think we are wise in the first place.

So, how much churning has to happen within us, so that the pollution is cleared and the truth shines, simple and pure. Until then, and if we ever reach that state, we can continue with our illusions.

Journey of adventure

There is a strange feeling of confidence in us as we plan our life. It is called faith. That keeps us going. Otherwise, if you really think about it, do we really know that we will live for the days we have planned activities for?

We only begin to think of our mortality as we grow older, and especially when health begins to fail. Then we review our lives, check out our mistakes and want to atone for many of them. We start fearing that our actions might boomerang on us. Our Karma may come back to us... etc.

But faith is that key which makes life into a journey of adventure. And it is faith only which makes us trust the Divine and accept our life experiences.

The Art of Living

The focal point of our life is the heart. Cleansing the blood and sending it to all the body parts. The seat of love, compassion, empathy, kindness and the seat of emotion, the bridge between our existence on earth and the anchor to the Divine.

To keep the heart light, protected and safe is the (he) Art of living.

As we take the gifts of kindness and love and need to reciprocate, so do we have to return back to the people their gifts of negativity that they give us. But we don't do that. We accept them and the heart becomes hurt.

It is so simple that the choice of what to ACCEPT is ours. If we don't accept the gifts of anger, hatred, resentment, rudeness etc, where do they go ? Obvious, they will stay with the same person. Well, please give it back. Your heart is not worth hurting for anything in the world. Is it? Do we deliberately let a bee sting us? But we do let people sting us where it hurts any reason to allow this?
