Inner chaos

One of the issues we seem to have wants the pace others have, in our lives. We are constantly looking at others and comparing ourselves. Contentment with us is a big issue.

When the spiritual core is stable only can we learn to concentrate on our own journey. Nature teaches us important lessons. A rose is a rose and never wants to be a lily. It feels complete in itself despite the thorns. A lotus is content to live in stagnant water and blooms with great beauty and purity.

But we humans fail to see our own beauty, our own uniqueness like the rose. We don't think we are good enough. And the result is inner chaos, deprivation of self esteem and soul regression instead of evolution.

Life is easy if we learn how to live.

Opportunities in life

When someone tells us that we create our own destinies, we don't understand what is meant. The reality is, everything depends on our thoughts. They initiate our reality. Thoughts convert to habits if we continue the same process of thinking. And soon, they become beliefs. Then, the belief starts to materialize and manifest through our actions.

We live in a lot of ignorance. We really have no idea how we can be our best friends and our worst enemies as well.

Analyze your belief systems and you will know what reality you are creating for yourself.

We get many opportunities in life to change our reality and with each such change; we create a new reality, a new destiny.

Simplicity

I have always believed that everything is flowing. When I look back , our perspectives seem to have come a long way.

Sometimes, nostalgia takes me back to old movies because I just love the songs. And I was such a movie buff in my school days that I would see every movie running in theatres with silver jubilees and golden jubilees and a few, many times.

The stars of yesteryears were not only on the screen but in our eyes as well. And we thought those were carefree, magical days of innocence and fun.

When I see the same movies again, the impact is not the same. Sometimes, I wonder what I liked about a few of them. You obviously grow out of some things in life. But they still blend with our impressions created at the time and the memories we have of the feelings we had then. That quality of feeling does not return often. But what is important is living in the present moment completely, and this we did very well back then.

What is sad is that those days of simplicity of thinking and living have gone. And what they are replaced with is complex minds, insatiable desires and a general lack of consideration for each other. People now enjoy crime and fear in movies, calling them realistic. Where are the pure love stories and relationship stories?

Humility

We have a lesson to learn from the tree. You know, we are also shaped like a tree and we stand tall too. The tree has roots to ground it . And the roots are as deep as the tree is tall, for its stability and firm anchoring. And its highest branches and leaves touch the sky as if they had a connection with the Divine energy.

Most trees have fruit all over. All the fruit laden trees automatically bend with the weight of the fruit. Humility.

The tree stands in the sun, braves drastic weather conditions but never refuses shade to the humans. Generosity and compassion must be learnt from a tree.

But we humans are unable to balance ourselves. Both grounding (ego identity) and spiritual (soul) activity must be equally important in life. And the wiser you get, the more you have to bend with humility, like the tree.

These are truths of life and lessons from nature. Everywhere we turn, there are lessons we must learn. And all the elements of the earth teach us something valuable.

Judge

The problem in relationships is that we judge our intentions but judge only the actions of others. And since we don’t have a clue about their intentions, we try to interpret their actions. By the way, we go very wrong in this exercise many a time.

How do we really know what someone is going through when they act? It is so possible that the action came from a troubled mind and had nothing to do with any intention to hurt or upset which we promptly DID get... upset! Why? Because we are unable to fathom people's intentions and so, mis judge them.

So, rather than misjudge, do you know what we can do? Just give them the benefit of doubt. Why muddy your mind unnecessarily without possessing any data on others and with only the overt action to go by and to understand from?

We would not want people to do that to us. So, keep single standards and do as you would like others do unto you.

Life is cool. Two steps only...

Benefit of doubt

Move on. Good thoughts to sleep on.

Spiritual wealth

I strongly believe that every citizen of this country must take up a cause. This is the only way we are going to wake up to those around us and their needs. Not only that, we also start waking up to our own abundance which, sadly, we don't ever understand because we are always looking to acquire the trivia we don't possess because someone else has it.

If we can just do this exercise: put down what we have on one side and what we want on the other. Just examine how many things that we want are really worth desiring. And examine the worth of what we already have.

Strangely enough, we never ask for: god, give me more goodness, more generosity, more compassion for those around me. Or, please help me be honest and simple in my relationships.

We ask for more of what money can buy. More power, more fame, people lining up to praise you to the skies for what you possess. Gautam Buddha left all the pomp and glory, and years later, emerged as the most glorious of humans.

The moral: only in letting go do we find spiritual wealth and glory.

Relationships

When we face hardships, some of us become very hard. And some of us become very malleable and vulnerable. A hard shell gets not only rigid but very defensive. We don't want people to look at us because we assume people will pity us.

This is not true as a general feeling. There are people who care genuinely, not pity. But we have a tendency to shun affection because we misunderstand even affectionate gestures as arising out of pity. Not only is this sad but a sign of ego. When we insist of returning every affectionate gesture with affection, it is beautiful. But when we fail to accept graciously as much as we expect others to accept graciously from us, THEN it is false pride and we must learn to understand the subtle difference. Relationships are delicate.

Professionalism

For a developing country, honing attitudes is the major requirement.

Professionalism in anything we take up is of prime importance. We have this tendency of taking advantage of anything and everything people want to get done through us. Taking advantage of people’s needs is an undesirable attitude. Making people chase you after they trust you and pay you for a legitimate deal which you take your time over accomplishing.  False promises and every procrastination that goes with it. Our intentions are dubious.

I have never understood this. Because the more genuine and efficient you are, the more good will you build up and the more work you get. What sense does it make to let people leave you with bad experiences, never to return?

We need dharma back in our lives. Honesty, simplicity, cleans mind and hearts, and empathy, all of which are necessary for a professional attitude and to sustain business and relationships.

Spiritual awakening

The process of Spiritual awakening can be very challenging. We think we will be illuminated and feel light. This may well be, but much later in the journey for most people.

Its a tough process to start letting go , watch the self minutely, examine the quality of each and every thought , letting go of everything that doesn’t serve our spirituality .

Our worldly habits become like extra skins on us which are very painful to

Peel off, though peel off we absolutely must. And the more we do this, the more meaningless the artifice of this world is revealed and the more isolated such a person can feel.

It is not possible even to share this state with anyone because no one would understand. Some might leave the path because it is arduous. But those who continue must be guided by an inner light that can submerge any darkness on the way.

Realistic

The popular slogan is never being unrealistic in your expectations. But, sometimes, we realize that what was normal interaction between two family members or friends for one person were unrealistic expectations for the other.

So, coming to understand what is realistic and what is unrealistic takes a few experiences with a person. Then, finally, a bulb lights up in your head and you rebuke yourself for not understanding sooner.

So, you take it with a smile and carry on... that’s life for all of us. It’s happened at one time or another to all of us.

Soul Consciousness

As you grow older, you realise that your accent is more and more on your health, physical, mental and above all, spiritual. Of course, attachments keep you engaged somewhat but mature thinking should keep us focused on the fact that we are closing in on the end of our journey sooner now, whenever time is up.

Becoming hard and non emotional is a tall order. Pain and suffering makes us human, though weak , too, hopefully, only momentarily. There are so many ways to look at everything. Whatever suits us becomes our path.

But, wisdom lies in not forgetting the basics of love and caring. Truth , simplicity and compassion never had substitutes. Our journey should not deviate from these principles because they are a part of our soul consciousness.

Journey

The happiest way to be is to wear blinkers and not worry about the reactions of others as long as you are clear about your actions and your own journey. Ironically, we are conerned about what the same people will think of us who don’t even have their own act together nor know where they are heading. But they happily criticise what they see in you without recognising many undesirable traits within themselves. Typical !

Don’t let your life depend on anything except your own reflections, your introspection on what your life should look like.

Granted, sometimes we are stuck in situations we did not visualise would get us stuck. But its ok. We just need to shoot down that body of karma by getting immune to it.

No one is indispensable as we see today when each one is just for himself or herself. In a way, it gives you the freedom to chalk out your own life without interference.

If you step back, everything gets levelled out.
