Untraveled Path

Building awareness is painful. It awakens you from a deep slumber you have been indulging in triggered by early conditioning. It starts at home when the belief systems of elders is superimposed on your innocent childlike minds. And you take them as the gospel truth. The “respect worthy “elders mould you, give you their identity, expect you to fulfil their unfulfilled desires and expect you to keep up their image in society. Whatever it takes away from you it does not matter.

Later, with awareness building in you, you now notice that you have to unlearn so many things you never doubted before.

That new awareness will change you and change the environment around you too. You will have to step out of your comfort zone and face new challenges, connect with people who are like you are now, leave many past memories and people who don’t work in your life anymore, to move onto new pastures.

You know now why repeated patterns appear! When you are not ready to face the pain of that new awareness. When you are unable to have the courage. When the “known “engulfs you because the untraveled path brings fear of the unknown. So, you do the comfortable things and get the same results. Nothing new / inspiring/ challenging appears in life till the end. Something to think about.

Transformation

There is no value in relationships where little things are constantly misunderstood and have to be sorted regularly.

It needs one experience of watching someone leave this earth, of the grief and remorse, even guilt felt by those around for what could have been , to wonder why we don’t treat relationships better in our lifetime.

There are a few landmark experiences in life which are utterly transformative. Make you accept and deal with life with more awareness and more grit. Above all, with more balance and respect for your soul.

Personality

A lot of things we do go against us but it has become such a norm in society today that hardly anyone thinks twice before doing them.

There are small and not so small lies, for one. The small ones CAN be avoided by saying it as it is. Without any harm coming to either side. Like, giving excuses unnecessarily.

Then there are the bigger lies which CAN be harmful in different ways. Once truth is out, there will definitely be an outcome which may not be a palatable one.

So many relationships hang by a slender thread of trust. Lies can kill them. If you claim to love, it is not valid without trust. And the basis of trust is respect.

If you can lie to someone, you evidently lack respect for that person. Whatever the reason be, it speaks only of your internal shadow personality.

It is therefore, very important to look within first. There are many cobwebs which manifest as untruths and need cleaning.

Limit of Tolerance

We hear people often admitting that they have reached their limit of tolerance! They speak of creating boundaries. And if you scratch people deep down, it is really with a sense of regret that they create these boundaries to protect themselves actually. There is a lot of emotional wear and tear and that is the reason.

Sad when you think of how different things can be and how much easier life would be if each one understood the simple concept of a two-way relationship! No, this is not based on calculation but a genuine sense of caring.

It is energy exchange. That’s all. It is not superficial. The enduring exchanges come from the heart. The moment there is a motive, there is going to be some element of pollution which is likely to cause friction and conflict.

I guess I have seen so much of respect and love growing up that it seems to me to be the only way to function in life. We just need to revert to some earlier ways of life which were happy and warm.

Respect

Popularly said you need to earn respect. Sometimes, making the effort to earn someone’s respect, you end up earning loneliness.

All these sayings are often superficial. They sound good and intellectual when you mouth them in a group. Sounds very impressive.

But really speaking, you have to change your whole personality to earn that respect. Don’t you see? For the simple reason that you cannot be anyone but yourself.

The world is filled with conditions.

If you do this, only then will I respect you…

If you do this, only then will I believe you etc…

And the most important fact: you are probably not sure of your qualities that are respect worthy, often, because they have not been appreciated. YOU have not been respected. Which also means, you doubt your ability to respect yourself. That you lack self-awareness.

I have seen people put down people constantly, mostly so that they can feel good or superior or whatever the reasons.

But the most important thing is, if you respect yourself, why do you need respect from others? External Validation?

You need to be known for who you are and there will always be people who respect you for who you are. We however, look for respect in the eyes of particular people who don’t necessarily have clean hearts towards us. Absolutely no need! There will be myopic people in all our lives who will deprive you of your energy, citing some examples about some fault they find in you. Even exaggerating the issue to tear you down emotionally and otherwise.

But then, it is a case of one finger at you and three back at them.  So let us please preserve our self-esteem at all costs. It is important in the journey of life. And we can be a better version of ourselves with constant awareness and efforts. Yes, sincere people’s opinions do point out to what we need to improve in ourselves. But there is really no need to let it corrode our confidence levels and positivity. Anyway, low self-esteem

Levels are highly damaging and highly avoidable. They can lead to multifarious issues, like a hydra.

Silence

Holding your head high tells people that you are the lead character of your own story. Confidence is liberating from external Validation. Walk tall and create your own space. Don’t shrink into someone else’s world.

Respect starts with you. Don’t give energy to anything negative. People will test your boundaries, try to judge you and control you even, and fail to see your worth. Or it may not suit them to see your worth so, they would try to push you down.

Silence to any external negative stimulus is the apt response. Silence in thought and silence of any reaction.

Owning your own life is the biggest step forward.  Let everything come from within and grow on your own elevating benchmark every day, based on your own increasing wisdom. Learning and growth are products of personal experiences. No one can live your life for you, however supportive they may be.

Courage

Don’t allow people to disrespect you or push you down because the shine of your soul is too blinding to demean yourself through others. Believe me, the brighter you are the more you are forcing others to shut down your light. But this WILL be the side effects of ascension.

Be it anyone before you, and I mean, ANYONE, just retain your glow. Others may just be envious they have not managed it yet.

It requires the courage to withstand the onslaught of the cruelty / callousness meted out to you. These are times that you just proceed to increase your light and allow it to erase that negativity coming at you.

The biggest mistake we make is to expect our brand of energy in people around us.

Remember, we are all here, within relationships to sort out our karma with each other, not to get entangled in pushes and pulls of the senses. Or in attachments inevitably leading to aversions / hatreds, thereby losing the whole purpose of our existence.

“I am existence, consciousness, bliss. “

Say it and remember it.

Self-Validation

People think self-validation borders on arrogance. But not so every time. Self-validation becomes very important when people put you down. The worst thing you can do is get your self-esteem from others. Self-validation works as an energy booster to your self esteem

when you respect who you are. And so, you can deal with people who they to strip you of your personality, your talents, your goodness because they can’t tolerate them.

Always be your own friend, your own angel, your own mentor and your own judge .

Desire

EGO! An interesting story! Mullah Nasruddin was sitting in his house when someone entered to meet him. Mullah Nasruddin asked him” who are you?” The man was offended that he was not even asked to sit down.

He said” do you know who I am? I am an MLA. “Mullah Nasruddin said, “please sit down. “But the man was still petulant! Again, he said, “I am soon to be Minister”.

Mullah Nasruddin said, “then please sit on TWO chairs!”

Moral: we desire and expect praise, accolades, respect. so many desires to name and fame. But within us, we are full of inferiority. If we were not, none of this would matter. The more we sit on our ego, the less confidence we really have.

Rejuvenate

Humankind has desensitized itself in a big way, in order to survive . It is time to reverse this condition, in the wake of so much avoidable stress and misery.

Apart from the natural disasters and unexpected happenings in our lives, we are also bringing misery to each other. Mind you, we are not escaping it either! We are all a part and parcel of each other, living within the same space, breathing the same air, having the same emotions…. Whatever we ARE doing is therefore, coming back to each one of us.

Just as we come together during natural calamities to help each other, conditions today are as bad as a calamity … and WE are responsible.

So, now, the onus is ours to clean up our acts and help the universe to get back into its original nature. We have vitiated the world enough , haven’t we ?

We need to throw out unceremoniously, everything that is against the will of God. And we know what these ingredients are. What is left is to acknowledge our roles in the pollution today and refashion our roles to rise and make this world a better place.

Restore! Rejuvenate! Respect!

Become sensitive to even a pin drop. We need to!

Gratitude

Someone has rightly said that success without planning is luck. And success with effort and struggle is an achievement. Envy therefore, has no value. All of us can create our own goals and work hard to achieve them. There is no other way, unless the credit balance of your “punya” gives you a place you perhaps did not “earn”. Like, being born into a wealthy family.

One really has to reflect very seriously and deeply on where one’s journey is each moment. And how much one is capable of in terms of truthfully assessing the self. We do tend to block what we don’t intrinsically like about ourselves, but cannot change.

New experiences need courage. Comfort and repetitive living will keep you from growth. One way to start the process of growth is to question everything we think, say and do. The weeds need to be pulled out, however painful, for the plant to grow in a healthy way.

Every year, we make resolutions. Some of us fall back into tested patterns and achieve more stagnation of the mind. Unable to heal our hurts and complexes, understanding that we can start afresh from the day the realization dawns that our thinking is not growth oriented.

There is so much accent on self-help today. We need to make an intention and immerse ourselves in this attempt while doing our usual routine. As they say, anything, even a mundane chore, can be done in different ways and joy derived from it. All we need is a simple mind with a clear intention.

And let us not forget the people who have nurtured us, even if it was a ” cruel to be kind” attitude in an attempt to teach us the right values. Respect for all forms of life is imminent in our journey to find ourselves. Because it is linked with how much we respect ourselves. So, love and compassion are the two most vital prerequisites for personal evolution. For us and others. They start with gratitude and blessings for one and all.

Law of Resonance

The common saying is, you have to earn respect. True ! But it has a corollary . Sometimes, you also automatically respect seniority, the sanctity of close relationships and even the painful journey of others . How can we  not? Especially if we call ourselves compassionate !

In fact, there are aspects of each one that are respect worthy if we respect aspects of ourselves. Then, we will recognise those aspects in others too.

No one is worth discarding or rejecting. If we do, then we have to look into ourselves first. There is a law of resonance at work all the time.
