Collective responsibility

Sometimes, those who seem to be all sorted and who seem to have a good handle on their lives are pretty vulnerable in many ways, though they will never show it. It takes a lot for them to cry. These are people who are the givers in families and extremely loyal and protective.
No one in those families should ever make the mistake of taking them granted. In fact, they should support them, love them a lot and even worry about them because they are the solid core of family unity and a tremendous asset to parents and siblings.
But unity does not lie on one person only. It is a collective responsibility. And each member owes it to the collective space they belong to.

Quantity over quality

Even if I say so myself, our generation was taught well and specially in terms of consideration for one to be aware of our space and act circumspectly and respect the space of others. We also knew things like, you queue up on the left and let people move forward from the right. We never had cell phones back then but we knew that we were supposed to give way to the elders.
Today, just forget all this. Even airports and stations have become like parks. Not to mention malls huge crowds, some loitering while talking merrily on cell phones, oblivious of the fact that they are blocking people behind them. Escalators have become a plaything, to run up and down like kids, never mind who you can knock down in the bargain.
Of course, there IS nothing like queues for some. Cutting through J walkers has become the single most frustrating exercise in malls, stations and sometimes, at airports too.
There is NO consideration in people for anyone other than themselves. Naturally, there is a resulting chaos, conflict and much anger everywhere. Minds are frayed not only at the edges but from all sides.
Quantity over quality is an accepted situation. If you haven’t accepted this yet, you are in for depression and high blood pressure.

Thought and Action

Have you noticed that our thoughts, our actions are mostly based on the expected responses? Have we thought or acted for the sake of thinking and acting? That anticipated response or the expectation of a certain kind of response is vital to our basic health. Because the result is either a “feel good” one or one that brings out our fear and insecurities.
We are so dependent on other people! Their opinions, their good will, their liking (or not) shape and even create us. Quite scary, actually, because we all believe we are independent, thinking individuals pretty much in control of our life.
Yes, we have to live amongst people, but what percentage of the self can we salvage after succumbing to all the influences?

Dependability

The true measure of a person is dependability. You may not meet for months but the one you think of first in a crisis is a friend indeed or family. How close such people have to be to you!
Can you go beyond the SMS and the whatsapp to reach out? If someone texted asking if you needed help, your instinct would always is to refuse because if you really want to help, you would not be asking.
One has to be very honest and lip service is not honesty. At the end of the day, an offer is just that an offer. Standing at someone's doorstep unasked, unannounced, to be of help is actual help.
An angle we need to work on.

State of mind

Wellness is really a state of mind. As a business, we might include a spa, a wellness clinic, gym etc. But the truth is, its core is the mind. When I say that I am not feeling well, I am really saying the mind isn't feeling good. Even if I have a headache, it started somewhere in the mind.
We need a mind spa, to cleanse the mind regularly. When we go for massages, our body relaxes. When we do liquid diets, we detox and when we do a mind spa, our spirit experiences a sense of freedom.
Everywhere, you have to pay for the services. At spiritual workshops, the difference is, after paying, we are cleaning the nucleus of all ailments. Once the mind is cleansed, every aspect of you is healed. It is the pollution of the mind that creates the cataract kind of opacity that blocks clear vision. It has to undergo surgery. The mind spa provides that surgery. And everything is gloriously illuminated after that.
