Selfless-Love

Sometimes, it is painful to watch someone you care for developing qualities that, you know, are not going stand them in good stead in the long run. And you are unable to even point it out. Because minds are blocked.

Each of us has to develop that vision, that awareness of distancing from ourselves so that we can observe ourselves and see ourselves more clearly. To see why we do what we do and what are the repercussions happening which we are unable to see until it is too late.

This is when our lives are running on an even keel and we think we are in control. Illusion indeed! Suddenly, one episode can upset our lives . And then, it is possible that people who care for you may not be around to support you. Or pick up the pieces with you.

It is wise not to alienate those people and appreciate them as people. Not many can really love selflessly. So, don’t throw away your blessings.

Connectivity

One of the greatest maladies of our existence today is the superficiality with which we deal with people. Relationships have become “contacts”. External image has become prime! We have classes and professionals in all aspects of external grooming and image building. And a great source of income, too! Because only that is accepted in society and work places.

“Family “spirit is gradually dying out. More families are at feud than ever before. And more “friends” are being cultivated. It is a classic case of giving your best to friends and becoming intolerant of family members.

Have we thought why? It is a jumbled up mess: of self-seeking, avarice, ambition, popularity and very little ethics. Also of distances. If Manipulations and hypocrisy work, why would anyone be foolish enough to practice virtue?

Today, we just WANT and WANT and WANT: contacts we can use, money, power. everything! And to hell with anything that smacks of old values!

Do we remember how sacred the vedic marriage rituals were? The depth of the core of living? Or the code of respect? Nope! We are losing it all.

I understand that lifestyle dictates values. But ethics dictates your spiritual journey.  The latter however, mostly loses to self-aggrandizement.

Controlling and more controls spell power, whether of wealth or people. Or anything else….

We are so busy pointing out the weaknesses of others that we forget, that however successful you are, you need to be a good human. Also, that it is

wiser to look at yourself as you are and work on your dark spots than feel happy pointing at others. This will not light up your darkness anyway.

Qualities like compassion need time to understand connectivity. We are so divided today that connectivity is not up for discussion.

Praise be for spiritual teachers who are trying to reverse these trends through imparting the right knowledge. And hope there will be practitioners instead of critics.

Collective responsibility

Sometimes, those who seem to be all sorted and who seem to have a good handle on their lives are pretty vulnerable in many ways, though they will never show it. It takes a lot for them to cry. These are people who are the givers in families and extremely loyal and protective.
No one in those families should ever make the mistake of taking them granted. In fact, they should support them, love them a lot and even worry about them because they are the solid core of family unity and a tremendous asset to parents and siblings.
But unity does not lie on one person only. It is a collective responsibility. And each member owes it to the collective space they belong to.

Time to rejoice

As women, we pass through many stages before coming into our own space and being comfortable in it. Our strength lies often in being silent when we want to scream. Our strength lies in smiling when we want to bawl our eyes out. Our strength lies in pretending we didn’t see the hatred in someone’s eyes and being pleasant no matter what. Our strength lies in loving our children whether that love is returned or not. In fact, there are many relationships that we hold close because we feel the emotions.
Gradually, we begin to learn from our different reactions to different episodes in our life , until one day, we realize that we have emerged stronger and are able to smile where we cried, hug those who we know could do without us , love those who we know are never going to care as much as we do, forgive those we have hurt us and also forgive ourselves for the hurt we have wittingly or unwittingly caused others.
And we women become stronger and stronger as we start depending on ourselves instead of always looking for crutches. We learn to deal with situations independently a time to rejoice.

Empowerment

We indulge in many impression creating words like "empowerment". Sounds... hmmm.. like a powerful word. Well, it is . But again, we dilute its significance by attributing the need for empowerment merely in women and then , in children. It seems to be by default that if men are not included, they are already empowered.
A truly empowered person cannot inflict pain or resort to sadism or abuse even remotely, precisely because "empowerment" is a sum total of many humane qualities. We always hear that women need empowerment because they work against each other or don't make productive use of their lives. Not to mention being second class citizens.
But, I think men could very well have men empowerment organisations where they learn how to respect, support and care for the womenfolk . AND teach their own kind to abstain from abuse of all kind just on the prowess of their physical strength as is evidenced by the rampant crime against women and children all through the world. After all, they were all born of women. When heinous crimes are committed, mothers and sisters are probably kept behind doors to be protected from people like themselves.
Capital crimes without capital punishment. Statistically, how many women rape and kill ? And yet, THEY need the empowerment ? Requires major thought, doesn't it ?
