Determination

Everywhere, you hear people lamenting about how goodness does not pay. What do we aspire for in return for it? What payment? It is strange that we have to be calculating here as well. I always thought it had everything to do with qualities like caring, wanting the best for someone, protecting someone, looking out for someone etc.
Well, as people close to me say, I live in an alternate world and am completely clueless about where the world is today. Not quite! It is one thing to know where it is and another to agree with everything it stands for.
Even today, respect is earned with the same old “obsolete” values. More so, because a majority is moving away from them that their value is ever increasing.
Yes, they are considered to be outdated because it is too much work for the rapid climbers today. Yet, when we see someone way above in ethics, in moral code of conduct, the discerning among us must realize it as a tough call requiring a lot of faith in oneself and the determination to go it alone if one has to, to respect oneself first before others respect you. Absolutely commendable!
Of course, those who have travelled a long way, away from home, are kind of lost and don’t want to be told this. And so, they have to find their way back to their core. Until then, the way out is waiting and praying.

Diversity

When your consciousness expands and extends beyond the self, it is a wonderful feeling. You see what you didn’t see before. You hear what you couldn’t before. The same environment seems different. What used to bother you earlier you only smile at now.
This happens when you focus on yourself and learn to consciously look beyond the visible. Of course, you might also see what you may not want to see. But one has to make peace with the diversity in this world without getting affected in whatever manner. This process begins with a higher awareness which becomes deeper and deeper as you go along.

Knowledge and Wisdom

We often use "knowledge" and "wisdom" as synonyms, taking it as natural. That people who have one have the other. But it does not quite work that way.
Acquiring knowledge helps you make a better living for yourself as medicine to a doctor's profession. Of course, as they say, knowledge is never wasted. So, an open mind works like a sponge, imbibing knowledge from anything and anyone and tucking it away for use during a rainy day. You can literally become a multi tasker.
But it is not knowledge but the dawn of wisdom that enhances the quality of your life. You make a better life by being wise because the implications of having wisdom are many.
In wisdom, you become balanced. You know when to speak and when not to, when to act and when not to. In wisdom, your vision expands to incorporate others into your circle of warmth and caring. Also in wisdom, you become compassionate and kind and learn to accept what you cannot change.
You also shun the qualities you don't want instead of shunning the people possessing those qualities. You become simple, straightforward and honest and learn the art AND science of living.
Then, you make a better life. And if this wisdom is complimented with knowledge, then life and living become merged into one wholesome individual.

Introspection

To speak freely is a human right. To live in fear and bottle up your opinions and thoughts is an injustice that societies must come together to combat, for good can only come out of a free and frank discussion followed by introspection.
Just as we stop in our tracks when a black cat crosses, (sheer superstition but we do it nevertheless), we need to stop in our tracks when our thoughts, speech and actions become black.
Black is a color which soaks in white to make a gray but what we need is pure white, the healing light and the light of clarity and purity.
There are so many tags attached to life… such as "difficult", "unbearable", "sad”, "exhausting" when we work with black.
What we need is radiant white in our lives. And white symbolizes "simple", "honest”, "loving" and bright....

Talent and confidence

Talent and confidence! It is a two in one package and no two ways about it. Right from the time that parents either encourage and appreciate or the reverse, a person becomes either confident or diffident. When opportunities are denied growing up, talent languishes because of a lack of self belief. "I can do it" and "I am good enough", the two most an important conviction without which whatever is learnt stays unexposed and in utilized. Many, many instances can I quote, of such cases where the talented little child becomes an adult but has not learned to breathe independently, to showcase the uniqueness with aplomb.....
Someone, somewhere did not notice, appreciate or nurture that uniqueness, that talent which lay sacrificed at the altar of hesitation and maybe, timidity also. Or maybe an implicit and innocent faith in the capacity of the discernment of elders which was a faith gone wrong.
