Storm

I was in the eye of the storm. It was raging within me and around me. I was getting swept off! Desperately trying to hold on to something, I was also trying to find out where its source was and how to control it.

Behold! I realized it was in the “l” of the storm within me.

That’s life. We look outside for what is inside! And keep crying that we can’t find it.  Everyone’s story!

Personalization

When you respect everyone, you yourself become respect worthy. It is a good reminder.

If you don’t find it in your heart to treat people well, there is a part of you that is unhealed. It is not a matter of blame but compassion and understanding.

We find all kinds of people around us and should make an effort to stay unaffected but at the same time, also decode their minds from their behavior. The quality of our mind spills over into external action. To be clinical about this is better than agonizing over or personalizing the actions of others over which you have no control in the first place. It would be like trying to destroy the rain which destroyed the flowers in your garden.

Challenge

One of the main challenges to fortitude is physical discomforts. Heat & cold, pleasure & pain arise from the contact of sense organs. They come and go, being impermanent. Bear with them patiently. Mental discomforts arise from the dualities of life like pleasure & pain, praise & blame and gain & loss. Though we tend to seek the pleasantness and detest the painful, we need to face both, since life offers a package deal: you seek the one and the other comes uninvited. Braving the forces of lust & anger is the greatest challenge. Under their grip man forgets what he is and acts in a way he himself might not approve of in his saner moments. He who is able to withstand the agitation caused by lust & anger, is the self-controlled one and he is the happy man.
