Wheel of Life

Some of us have lived spanning two centuries. We have seen major transitions in values, in thinking patterns, in priorities, in belief systems and behavioral patterns.

We loved and we lost many loved ones. We learnt to adjust to our parents, then to our children and in between, to families, natural and adopted.

In all of this, we found a lot of meaning in life and later, also started discovering and understanding the meaninglessness of it.

We were exposed to lessons of goodness and uprightness, honesty and integrity, love and compassion, duties and responsibilities above self, all of which became obsolete.

Adjustment became our second name. We seldom got a chance to lead our lives according our wishes. In fact, some of us did not even think as far as “what do WE want in life!”

But newer generations have always come up on the sacrifices of the older ones. It is a different matter that the newer generations don’t see it that way nor want to expend their energies on the elders. After all, the lives the seniors are extinguishing gradually.

Nothing much to learn or emulate from the experiences of the older generations. The proverbial generation gap as happens with every generation.

However, having said that with the freedom given to youngsters to choose their vocations, their future has opened up to so many new vistas. Every opportunity is available and many avenues open.

I love watching this generation blooming in a different world than what we grew up in. After all, change IS the only constant. They may not see what we saw but it is fine. The wheel of life and creation turns and we travel in it for god knows how many lifetimes.

God bless us all!

State of mind

As time goes by, You will loosen your grip on that rock, The one you always thought was home, And you will realise that home is not a place, It’s a state of mind. Let it go

As time goes by, You will learn to see yourself more clearly, The person who was always too much of one thing, And too little of another, was actually everything that person needed to be. Let that person out

As time goes by, You will let the simple things become big, And you will allow the big things to become simple, And that readjustment will be, The day you really start to live. Let it be

As time goes by, You will be forced to say goodbye many times, And your soft little heart will shatter but, It will still beat and that will bring you, All the purpose you need. Let it beat

As time goes by, You will stop choosing wealth over peace, You will stop choosing money over time, And you will see that the treasures you need, Are in the smiles and the laughter. Let them in

As time goes by, The moments you remember when your life flashes past, Are never the awful memories my friend, it’s the joy, The summer nights, the lazy days with loved ones, The midnight chats and the morning hugs, Let them all happen.

Spiritual Health

It is important to train yourself to understand that YOUR life and your spiritual health is THE single most important thing or at least, should be, for you. You have to and must keep your focus on your well being and this should certainly not depend on someone else whoever it may be.
If you notice, the moment you stop taking the words or actions of others seriously and stop applying them to yourself, you begin to feel your energies lightening. Many must have experienced this. The heaviness leaves you. You can think more clearly and resume your own activities with a new vigor.
There is much to be said about taking things with a big pinch of salt.

Brand of reality

Each day, we experience our brand of reality. Things happen. Episodes have reactions and become memories we either cherish or battle with, to no positive end. Life becomes a problem only when you don’t accept what is going on.
Human minds can be much distorted, in that they value what needs to be discarded and discard what is of true value. And this is why life revolves around problems. WE are the problem, not life. We live within the constricted walls of unrealistic belief systems and negative thinking patterns. Cloudy skies can never provide clear vision. So, if we are to live well, we need to think of how we can see and accept our reality without judging and blaming.
Each one of us has to take ownership of our reality instead of living in some Technicolor dream sequence ... and then the film ends!

Comparison

When you criticize, you want to feel better about yourself. Or, you feel you are in a better state and therefore, can criticize others. But it is not so. Because what you criticize is deep seated within you. You have been there and haven't healed yourself. And without parts of you not being healed, there is no peace.
Comparing deprives you of peace because the very fact that you compare means you are not happy with yourself and your life as it is.
As far as complaining goes, it is evident that there is much chaos within you. You are unable to adjust to your environment and there is always some lack or the other. Where is there a question of peace ?
Peace will be within reach when you replace the three Cs with three As.
Awareness
Acceptance
Adjustment
Adapting to what is around you is the best way to go.
