Pretension

There are huge training centers for image building.  Body language, tone of voice, facial expressions etc. Your real selves are seen as flawed.

We learnt how to behave when we were growing up. But unfortunately, we were also taught to keep “real”. What you see is what you get. This motto was our pride actually. We hated pretensions of any kind. It was too much stress!

Now? You better forget all that and build an acceptable image for the outside world. Don’t try to be yourself. You may end up being at the periphery of all the communities that “matter”.

Because the society is afraid of the genuine, the truthful and can only accept you with your cultivated persona! This is “sophistication”, folks!

Comparisons

Why is it that often, new friendships fade into a kind of indifference after a while whereas old bonds can be revived any time? What is it about childhood friendships?
We travelled with my dad every two years and this moving constantly never really gave us the time to strengthen bonds. Today, when I see my children having such strong bonds with their friends, it is because they were together since school days.
As children, there were no motives attached to friendships.
Not a care in the world about the frills of family name, fame etc.
Comparisons set in only when, as adults, we start calculating and comparing.
But as I always say, everything does have two sides and the good side of changing cities is that you learn to adjust and adapt early in life. And unconsciously, your mental horizons expand as well.
We call ourselves widely travelled when we have indulged in a lot of foreign travel. But I tell people I was a widely travelled kid!

Blessings

Beautiful lines. We receive so many blessings all through life and all the time. But our eyes are desperately on the locked doors of our own desires which we keep knocking on. Some of those doors have nothing but grief beyond them but we persist. And ironically, those that are open we walk through without evaluating what we leave behind when we carelessly stride through.
This is the human folly that we see within us and around us that triggers waves of unhappiness. The capacity to deepen an experience lies within us. To stand still and breathe in the nectar from the air is ours to do. And the more we breathe in, the deeper the resonance of the depth.
This is exactly why our peers have recommended counting our blessings. Because with each count, the blessing gains strength and more it gains in strength, the deeper is lodges within the psyche and the more it manifests constantly.

Compassion

If you look back at your life events, you will always find some people that you have had issues with. Some you forgive and from some you seek forgiveness. And you also forgive yourself for hurting people and mistakes made.
However, I wish it were that simple! Actually, it IS that simple to my mind. But not so to other people. In everyone's life, there are some people who refuse to forgive. Hmmm... out of our control, right? But how do we react to this non forgiveness? Arrogantly? Humbly? Aggressively? With compassion and understanding?
You might say, "But it is not about me". But really speaking, it IS about you, too, because you were a party to the interaction.
It is interesting to see how such incidents confront you and how you need to make peace with them, at least from your side. You are not responsible for the emotions or decisions of others. You can only clean up your slate. And that's what should be done. When things and people stop affecting you is when you are on your way to real freedom.

Spiritual science

It is so interesting to listen to people's conversations and observe the attitudes and emotional patterns which shine through.
Trivial and apparently casual conversations are not so ordinary because an aspect of the personality becomes evident to the onlooker.
For example, being secretive! I would prefer the word "privacy”. That has a valid connotation for me. The word "secrecy" somehow demonstrates the darker side ...and above all, the kind of things that people feel the need to be secretive about surprises me.
If you are invited to someone's home for a meal, the statement is, “I am OUT for lunch", "OUT" being the catch word here. If you are going for a holiday with "friends". No names mentioned! You might know them. AND feel bad you were not invited two brothers, sisters or sisters in law don't have any desire to share friends. Too close for comfort!
WHY? All this in the name of "healthy" trends or the reverse?
Can one call this a malfunctioning of society, this opacity and this compulsion to control people and environment?
If you really analyze this, the root cause is mostly the perception of a reduction of attention and importance, or let's say, sharing the person and risking their walk over to the other side. Or maybe, a tiny voice from within that might whisper, "Maybe, the other person will outshine me". It is the fear of loss, a loss of many things under the apparent, superficial reason. Definitely an avoidable emotion! It just causes inner as well as outer conflict. But it is a very real issue today. Gone are the days of togetherness and large heartedness.
I know there can never be unanimity in such views. But the basic fact remains that these attitudes exhibit a deep sense of low confidence levels and self esteem. Of course, one can carry on living in this state all of one's life. And people DO, too.
On the deeper level, these are also separatist attitudes where people are making choices of people and taking sides, sometimes being forced into taking sides, just because there are two sides...an undesirable polarization in perceptions!
Spiritual science teaches us oneness, the complete opposite.
But everything ultimately boils down to our self image. It is important to keep updating it through constant work and experience. Not be a big fish in a small pond and getting inflated but a small fish who is lively and courageous and swims along, exploring the furthest corners of the huge universal ocean so as never to be intimated by anyone or anything and taking on everything with a personality adaptable , mature and confident.
The canvas is so vast that the minds cannot afford to be small. This is a gross mismatch.

Karma

Karma simplified! The easiest way to define karma is "what goes around comes around". But is it so easy? That is only a part of it. Let us be aware of the collective nature of karma besides individual ones.
The popular saying, “a father's sins come onto the children" is not meant lightly. One person's actions can involve many people around them. Like the AGHORA book on karma talks about an example of racing where so many people's karma is joined together...the jockey, the bookie, the people who bet etc.
Can you imagine the level of awareness and wisdom one has to develop to experience the old karma while refraining from performing new harmful ones?
We often feel so much intensity of emotion that actions are rooted in feelings, sometimes imbalanced ones.
Let us examine our thoughts very minutely to control karmic fallouts in our current lives.

State of chakras

Coincidences! Are there any? I don't believe there are. From a line you read, to a book you select from a shelf to people you meet, the food you attract, and the clothes you wear...our external world mirrors our inner world.

Some days, for example, we may choose some colors to wear and other days, other colors. There is a reason. Colors reflect the state of our chakras and define our moods. Food preferences define us.

Of course, as we change our preferences, so we demonstrate the way we are transforming. Like, when a non veg turns a veg, there is surely a change within. Similarly, if you start observing yourself in these ways, you will know yourself much better and succeed in making the changes you feel you should be making for yourself. This expedites our evolution.

Depraved or deprived

Depraved or deprived? This is a very basic subject of analysis when we see young and idle minds engaged in activities like rape, violence, anti national activities etc. Are these partially or completely depraved minds? Or, are they pampered and throughly spoilt, depraved minds who have been brainwashed, or completely out of control, or dangerously criminal minds whose spirituality is dead?

Strange, isn't it that this is the land of sages and the highest levels of spirituality in which the darkest deeds are happening? Sure, it is a world of dualities!
