Spiritual poverty! We seldom use the two words together but when we do,
it turns into a very hard hitting thought.
Spiritual poverty is the poverty of the soul. As long as we have money, cars,
comforts and "riches", the word "poor" is not generally
used for us, right?
But that is exactly what many "rich" people are. When our soul
is poor and sick and we are immersed in matter, our salvation is far from
coming.
Name, fame and money can be very elevating...but
only for the EGO. Not for the soul. Spiritual elevation is not connected with
material "elevation”. The former does not need the latter. But the latter
needs the former desperately. Because, the ego directed individual will, most
likely, tend to develop an anti spiritual personality.
It is often possible to find
spiritually rich people in a hut and the spiritually poor people in palaces.
To become your own person in
every sense, you have to be prepared to be “burnt” (metaphorically) and stand
isolated, if required. If there is no courage within the spiritual framework of
a person, spiritual growth remains just a dream until further lessons are
learnt.
