Consquences

Pain is an inevitable part of life, the outcome of challenges and often unpalatable experiences. We tend to internalize it and react to it. The resistance to it is what brings suffering.

What works is accepting situations and letting the pain out with an understanding that it is all an essential part of the flow and of our growth.

A river collects stones, dried leaves, sticks and all kinds of pollution that it picks up along its course, but still weaves its way around them to reach the ocean. Similarly, we need to recognize that just as a river does not go against its flow, all creation also has a natural progression. The course has been chartered for us but we either don’t see it or are in denial. And very foolish in our ignorance. Even more so because we see only short term benefits, failing to see the long term implications of those short term benefits. Never forget that the wheel of our lives keeps turning.

Unfortunately, man is the only creature that defies the natural laws, with undesirable consequences for the whole world, as we see this happening more and more in current times.

Communication

I have always laid a lot of emphasis on communication as being a major source of bonding between people meaningful communication that enables you to understand people, provided they understand what you are trying to communicate in the first place. We tend to add a lot of pollution to our understanding, based on how we feel at that moment.

But today, we do tend to overlook all of this and prefer to deal superficially. Probably, as much as is “necessary” or as is expected out of decency and or politeness.

There was a time there was an economy of words but substantial meaning inherent in them, a meaning that conveyed sincerity and genuineness. There was no need to say ten words when two were enough. Hearts were connected.

Today, we must speak volumes to convince that we speak from the heart, which, most of the time we DON’T. Supplemented with smiles that touch the ears but don’t reach the eyes.

In a crowd, there is an isolation. There is limited communication. Overtly. Image building exercise, I guess. Sometimes, I feel there is more depth in dressing up these days than depth of communication. And therefore, no understanding of what was the essence of the communication. The roller coaster we ride everyday gives us no scope.

Universe

We need to have a fair sense of right and wrong which applies universally, irrespective of our relationships.

It starts first with each one of us. And when we apply it to ourselves, then we don’t need to look at others. Being blind and forgoing this sense of right and wrong when it comes to

People we love is our own pollution of the mind.

Don’t let yourself off the hook for anything you have done wrong. Use fair play and you will find yourself becoming confident in your righteousness.

Cleansing

Reflecting on the behavior on others is really futile. The mind is a vast ocean of desires, many complexities, memories and negativities along with the positives. It is the former that really persist. Somehow, the mind has a tendency to dwell only on its own well-being. And so, the ego will distort the truth a million times over for that false sense of well-being. The modern-day human is so acquisitive that the prime feeling prevalent is a feeling of being threatened that some people seem better off in some aspects. It is so evident that fear rules. The fear of loss! Ironically, whatever we fear losing is already lost because it was never ours. And yet, we hanker after this mirage and see a falsity that masquerades as reality. Minds are so afflicted that what is termed as “normal” is often just a figment of imagination, often a delusion. And far away from the actual reality. The worst is trying to cleanse our inner pollution while surrounded by polluted minds. An uphill task, for sure! Many give up because it seems an impossible climb! Yet, we have to start. The alternatives to this will lead us nowhere. Surekha Kothari www.BodyMindSoulCentre.com surekhakothari.wordpress.com Speakingtree Blog: www.speakingtree.in/public/surekhakothari
