Percolation of knowledge

Being intellectual and  indulging in spiritual pursuits is commendable . But if these lead  to intellectual or spiritual arrogance, we must watch out ! Studying texts like Ramayana and Bhagvad Gita, reciting shlokas and being able to talk about them is wonderful. There is one word of caution though.

Such people often get the impression that knowing these is actually understanding them. Understanding is the percolation of knowledge which inspires relevant behaviour as well.

But, this does not happen. Precisely because even in depth knowledge only makes a scholar , at best. Never a practitioner. There is much ego in many such people whereas , if understanding had set in, humility would be the result, not arrogance. Arrogance gives a person an illusion of being always right and superior to others. Arrogance makes a person constantly talk about how learned they are but practice of all they “know” may be sadly lacking.

In life, we fall a million times, get up a million times and need to go on. Success is relative . But when people think they are perfect, the best, and really infallible, then one needs to look at them again and understand that they have a long way to go. They took the wrong path when they thought they were perfect and found it easy to deride those who were not , in their eyes.

Peaceful space

When you reach a stage in life where you have faced the onslaught of life in many ways, seen people who are fickle and not loyal, have taken the heat of many negative moments until your hair is grey and your brain cells groaning for some rest, you have finally made it as a senior citizen. Now just chill and Relax! Have a char minar, as they say. There is no need to explain you to anyone. If people love you, they will try to understand you. If not, God bless them all. Just stay within your peaceful space and let the world fly around you.

Anger

Anger has strange reactions. But if truth be told, if you hit your fist against a wall angrily, who will get hurt? Anger will make you inflict hurt on yourself all the time because it is self directed. At the choices you make, the mistakes you make, the people you choose to be around and get betrayed by ... etc. it is always you, you and you.
Juxtaposing this on a family situation, if you choose to cause dissensions within your family for your own sins so to speak, you are taking away your own support system and weakening your own spine , that is, your family.
In a nutshell, anger is nothing if not self destructive. And adopting corrective measures is better than ruining a solid edifice of pillars that supports you.

Spirit of equilibrium

I notice in others and myself that we all seem to be a little different when we are out of our daily routines , for example when we travel to other cities, as compared to the places we reside in. Somehow, more relaxed but naturally, we do have less responsibilities than in our own homes and offices. I see friends wanting a change every so often. And they run away.
This does make me wonder whether we, as humans, with a natural tendency to be free, to feel free, are unable to sustain that inner spirit of equilibrium and an equanimous state of being. Which means our responses to external stimuli change with both people and places? Which again means, we get affected and that’s not such a good thing because we are not in our control.
This means there is a lot of work to be done. Life is an eternal project in motion. It stops or slows down here and there. And when it does, we need to kick start it again.

Brand of caring

I have seen that many people push away good and caring relationships by taking them for granted or not understanding their brand of caring. Sometimes, there also seeps into a long term friendship a kind of envy which leads to two people growing apart.
When you have known someone a long time, and life takes you into different modes, you tend to look at that friend with a certain comparison. And if, at that time, you are an unhappy human being, you tend to forget the close bonds you shared and begin to gradually tear apart the relationship. And once you reach a point of no return, you have burnt your bridges until you realize what you lost. By then, it is too late.
Better to make a point in your book never to reach a point of no return. Life is not about “you”. It works only if it is about “us”, that “us” could be two people or more.
Besides, those who have experienced the bonds of love will tell you there is no feeling better, no joy greater than a no holds barred friendship and closeness. It could be between any two people. If the base is compassion on both sides, the rest follows.

Importance of affirmations

There are two major planes of awareness necessary in life. One, that I am a soul, not the body. And if I am in my body consciousness, I am in my ego state. Somewhere, that ego is going to try and create negativity and block the channels of communication with the Divine.
The importance of affirmations has become huge only to cleanse the blocks which lodge within our cells. Keep superimposing the positive over the negative and finally, replace the negative with the positive. It is possible to cleanse the memories which we should not store and which disturb us. Unknowingly, we have abused ourselves in many ways. It is time to become aware, zero in on those grey areas and treat them once and for all.

Practical analysis

Every thought I read these days throws me into a world of practical analysis and its usability.
Someone read out the following:
It is better to have a heart without words, rather than words without a heart. Now, no one in their right minds would even think of refuting this. But, the opposite is happening, Sweet words without any heart in it is achieving fantastic results.
It's like also the saying that, you love people and use things. Woah! Really! But what is happening is the opposite. Things are being loved and people being used.
Under such conditions of families and societies, grief should be made into a completely redundant emotion. Completely deleted, or you can risk losing many years of your life, not to mention the quality.
Everything, as Hegel theorizes, is cyclical. Thesis, anti thesis and finally, synthesis, the phase of balance, like the period of Renaissance brought in many changes for the better after a saturation point had been reached.
So, let this cycle go on, the wheel of time and karma keep turning. Stay clean and let others realize as they go along their journey.
There will be people in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Only when you discover the seasonal ones will you be able to see beyond into the circle of real people who will always be there. Until then, the intensity of your myopia will keep increasing. "Friends" will help you get sophisticated, cosmetic eye wear. But, only you can improve your inner eyesight which goes through your heart.
