Self-Inflicted

I can’t imagine why people would not speak about how they are feeling! In fact, they would rather spend on psychiatrists than clear their minds of the hurts they harbor by telling the people who have been responsible for those hurts.

Many times, hurt is an outcome that was never intended. It could just be a perception of a sensitive person or a person who is not too confident even, or already hurting. I can never underestimate Buddha’s saying that suffering is self-inflicted.

I have always been a great advocate of communication because I think direct communication, if done with simplicity , can be less complicated than a third person stepping in. Especially when we are not attributing hidden motives to each other.

Having said that, I have seen multiple misunderstandings over simple attempts to improve matters also.

We certainly are a complicated species with an inherent ability to be simple . For various reasons, we don’t exercise the latter too often.

At the end of the day, we are busy creating boundaries all our lives, not all of them justified.

Perception

At some point, we must recognize the fact that we are very limited beings in the general scheme of things. We would like to attribute to ourselves qualities which give us a sense of well-being. A lot of this comes from our ignorance and from deluding ourselves.

We are creatures of perception, often quite superficial, I might add. We live in a three dimensional world but some of us are one dimensional.

Each of us has to grapple with what life doles out. Can anyone live someone else’s life and karma? The reply would unanimously be a “NO”. And yet, what do we do? We are busy trying to teach others what we have not learnt ourselves yet. We are desperate to control others, wield power enough to change them. But let us look within and ask how much WE have been able to change! But we would still judge without knowing even ten percent of their stories. Prejudices and conflict dot the lines of our horizons.

I have yet to understand why we feel deserve “better” than others or feel entitled to invade the privacy of others or malign them. What basis do we have?

We have, due to our insecurities, created a sad society in which happiness means running down people, hurting them unnecessarily, living selfishly and keeping the whole cake without attributes like sharing and caring.

Each day takes us a little closer to the end of this life. Do we not care ?

Miracle

I have learnt that not everyone who is knowledgeable is a good teacher. You have to have the knack of breaking it down to basics to make it acceptable, understood and palatable. I think the one effective way to teach is after you have experienced life and had a chance to introspect, analyze and then come to some valid conclusions about how life works.

Books can never substitute for experiences.

As for living life, the best attitude is that of a child who finds a miracle in everything.

Sense of liberation

A most profound truth we live within the prison of our own making Our thoughts about ourselves, about others, our lives, our emotions, our conflicts, fears, comparisons, attachments, dissatisfactions and more.
How often do we feel a sense of liberation? Hardly ever! There is always some pre occupation which might turn out to be meaningless and completely unimportant in time, but at that time, occupies a large chunk of the mind. And we don’t know how to free ourselves from it, and similar situations.
Actually, it is we who hold on to what we think is holding onto us. The biggest illusion we suffer from. And hence, we fail to destroy the illusory prison walls when there are open doors and illumination all around us. How long will it take?

Ego battle

There comes a time when you are absolutely saturated by all that goes around . Which you were a part of earlier in life. But somewhere along the way, the falseness, the meaninglessness of all conflict, all separatist tendencies, all pettiness, all self absorption, all cruelty , sadism, merciless killing and destruction... becomes so over the top that the mind just wants to switch off. And words fail.
Finally , this time, silence dawns . There is just no speech that can describe any of it.No opinions need be given. No judgemental statements may be spouted. Everything is just an ego battle. What's the point ?
Silence is the best policy. Watch the world go by. Remain sane by stepping aside.

Emotional pain

It has been well established that we have the capacity to heal ourselves and don't have to live with pain. One of the worst is emotional pain, the pain of feeling hurt, rejection, being discriminated against, humiliation to name a few. And this happens because we give too much energy to these emotions. Our attention gets focused on just one point, our feelings.
Have you tried to focus at an object near you for a few seconds ? It builds up pressure. And then, when you look away into the expanse of vision before you, you feel relief. Similarly, if you look at the vastness before you, the emotions become very minuscule and manageable.
The heart is connected to this world and the other world to heal
these emotions by yourself, and you can, you need to meditate on the heart chakra, sending it love, sending love to the whole creation and visualising love coming your way from the whole creation. This is a powerful healing meditation. In a few weeks, there would be both inner and external changes to n time and with daily practice. The pain will recede for one, and a happier state of mind sets in worth trying.
