Generations

Duty consciousness takes care of so many potential grievances. It is sometimes better to do what you are supposed to do, mechanically, than fail to do it.

Freedom without duty consciousness is really a recipe for grief! Not for anything else but for oneself! Time and time again, I have seen that defiance to do your duty can bring in a lot of guilt later. Because we ignore some universal principles.

The “should” and “must” have a very important place in one’s quest for freedom. To do what one should do by oneself and for others is the balance we need to create in our lives.

We are all connected by invisible dots which have to link harmoniously. A tug of war of any kind can upset the equilibrium.

Each one has a role here. Nothing more. And how well we can perform is our mastery over this art before we leave the world , hopefully as a better place for future generations!

Human nature

It is human nature to dwell on hurt more than happiness. Both words start with "H" but they are poles apart in their emotional content and precisely because we can't find enough energy to feel complete. "They" can only affect you if YOU let them, because YOU don't understand that YOU give them power over you.
We find it very difficult to say "no" in general. We compromise, get dragged and pulled and pushed on account of playing different roles and for the sake of other people. This inevitably goes against our grain and gradually, to resentment and a kind of anger which snowballs into inadequacy and complexes. And the next thing you know is, you start letting others upset you because are upset already. You start attracting people who upset you and comments that throw you over the edge.
But for how long and more important and at what cost? You can learn to say NO to hurt, to being hurt. For some, baiting is a game they play to feel superior by getting that extra power from those who are vulnerable. And the vulnerable get hurt instead of smiling it away, as simple as that.
Say NO to hurt and people will not affect you anymore.

Communication

It is so true that different people get different things from any one component. Let's take social media. Some hate it. They find facebook, instagram etc. too impersonal or even invasive. Then you have those who love to make "friends" who they can be the best of themselves with safety in acquaintance. There are also those who want to connect with old friends they have lost touch with. Some feel less lonely when they communicate on a facebook.
Similarly, I do think it is possible to extract the best for oneself from every episode, every person and everything else, too. Just depends on the attitude and mental dexterity, not to mention intelligence.
If I know something is good for me, I should be able to pursue it without prejudice and recourse to any kind of cloudiness in the mind. I can't understand why anyone should judge without experience. And why I should let myself get swept away beyond my purpose and even after my need is fulfilled. I believe one can try anything new if one knows where to draw the line.

Views

Sometimes, we don't lend credence to the fact that people's minds are wired so differently. What is clear as daylight to me may not be necessarily so for others. Naturally then, in a close family or group situation, this is a reason for conflict if one side imposes views on the other.
In a dialogue, we can try and impress our perceptions because a dialogue means both parties are open to listening and imbibing. However, the scenario changes if we try to superimpose our views on the opposite party. Even if the final conclusion might be in favor of MY view, there might be a resistance to it if I insist on my views being the only right ones.
So, often, we compromise, keep silent or go along with the popular view to keep our relationships intact over and above being right. Only with the understanding that it cannot be "my way or the highway" kind of attitude. There are reasons why "my way" could be rejected, though maybe, not all valid ones from where I might be looking at it, but very valid from other angles arising from other views.
Therefore, the ultimate outcome might be a good one only if we are willing enough to respect those other points of view to complete the picture.
