Reflection

Sincerity and commitment: two stellar qualities which need cultivation. The world is quite a superficial one currently. Both qualities do not define many. If they are demonstrated, it is generally to achieve an end. And after that, they are not seen much.

Evidently then, the reality percolates down to our own personality of which these two qualities are not an integral part, just superimposed for a period of time.

Reflection, soul searching, finding new tools for a better existence, “turning over a new leaf” on some counts may be a pressing need, sometimes not felt at all, much to our long term detriment.

Although I do past life regression, I do believe that the saying” we have only one life that we know of” becomes significant in terms of using precious time for tending to our soul journey rather than getting too involved in matters of temporary gratification.

Economy of words

I have noticed that people who respect themselves are generally very dependable. And being dependable is a sterling quality that spells commitment AND fulfilling verbal promises.

Today, it is the one thing to say things for effect. Like, “I would love to see you sometime” or, “I will call you tomorrow”. I would say, don’t say it because no one is waiting for you say these things. And if they take your words seriously, you may lose their trust. Gradually, no one will believe you.

If we respect ourselves, we would exercise economy of words. Not say what we don’t really mean but be sincere in general. Truth matters. Simplicity matters.

Lack of responsibility

Can you respect yourself if you have no commitment to anything and anyone in life? When you just drift along aimlessly? I always wonder about the psyche behind this. Can there be no ambition, no drive, and no cognizance of what others around you might be depending on you for?
We are quick to point this aspect in other people. A lack of commitment goes hand in hand with a lack of responsibility. And these are not useful or admirable traits.
Living within a family and society makes responsibility mandatory and so with people receiving a salary. The proportion of commitment in relation to salary was never the thought in earlier times. Today, the respect for employers is scant in many places, especially domestic staff. And this is not the case only here.
This is the world of today. Dealing with it is the only option. And avoiding stress at the same time. Stress is the biggest killer.

Life Span

Too much of anything is avoidable. The mind looks for a change when it cannot handle excesses. And why not? A heavy, saturated mind can cause many problems. Like everything in life, the mind needs some space and some rest.
Can you imagine if thoughts never ceased at all? For one, we could not sleep at all. For another, no thought would be complete. Without rest and sleep, we would surely reduce our life span or go crazy even.
As they say, “all work and no play....." and this applies to all of us.
So, if you want to have a happy life, take breaks from everything frequently, even if short ones. Laugh every day. Change unhappy anything to happy. Before a maximum saturation sets in, shift gears ....and be a little wise, a little crazy, a little adventurous, a little determined, a little balanced but always happy.

Live and let live!

Live and let live! That would be so, so wonderful, right? No interference. No desire to control or clip wings. No poking the nose in other people's affairs. Maintaining a little space within the closeness. Letting the final decision be taken by the person concerned. Agree to disagree in an amicable manner sometimes. Encourage and support independent points of view. But continuing to care and respect all the way...
Sometimes, people can walk along the same path but at their own pace. And that is so wonderful. No need to compete and to overtake anyone.
Walking the path with a spring in your stride, hugging nature, singing a happy song, a lilt in your voice, oblivious of any dissenting or disapproving looks, living your life with wisdom, divine grace and love in your heart.

WAY TO GO, FOLKS

Attachment

It is inevitable that in our journey, some stay with us all along and some fulfill the reason they were in your life and move away. It is absolutely ordained and within the plan of our life.

Forming attachments along the way makes this learning difficult. Much grief, sorrow and unacceptability comes our way, leading to an arrest in the growth process. We were not meant to gather so much negativity. But learning such lessons with wisdom would make our tough karma easier to handle, though inevitable to experience.

Like a child that fails in exams when it has not learnt the right lessons, life is one such exam where learning does not come only from mugging but observing, introspecting, experiencing, making wise decisions and choices and then arriving at the right path.

Genuine

The ingenuity of the human mind can conjure up "genuine" reasons and justifications for actions and behavior. We are masters at the game of illusions which are a product of our creativity.
But there is only one reality. Sooner or later, we will arrive at that. Rather, we will HAVE to arrive at that. Like a derailed train or delayed train that might reach its destination late...how late would depend on how soon the obstacles can be cleared. Life is pretty much like that. The difference is, in our case, only we can clear those blocks and obstacles. We can go round and round but ultimately, we have to find our path to reality. If we won't exercise the right choices, we will be led to the right choice....

Inspirational story!

A deeply inspirational story! Once, a very bright and keen-to-study boy went to a brilliant astrologer who had never been wrong in his predictions and asked him, "Sir! Will you please look at my palm and tell me how much I will study!

The astrologer, after examining the lines on his palm said, “I am sorry but there is no line of knowledge in your palm". The boy asked him to point out the place of the line. Once he knew where the line should be, he went home, took a knife and cut a line exactly where the line of knowledge should have been.

Then, with a bleeding palm, he went back to the astrologer and said, “Sir! See! Now I have the line of knowledge in my palm." This boy grew up to be a famous Sanskrit scholar. His name was Acharya Panini.

If all mankind had that kind of spirit, this world would be a haven. Our
destinies can be molded by us. We are not limited by astrological predictions.
